Welcome to the best roads of Switzerland! To give you some inspiration on where to plan your road trips and to show you some must-see routes, today we are going to show you the seven best roads in Switzerland.
Table of Contents
ToggleAlvra Pass in Southeastern Switzerland
The Alvra Pass is located in the Lens region. This route is about 56 kilometers long, offering a lot of variety and truly breathtaking views. Here you will see the Alvra River, which dives through a deep crevice between two vertical rock faces, and the road impossibly follows it through as well.
The Klausen Pass
This magnificent road is situated between Altdorf and Linthal. The Klausen Pass is 46 kilometers long and will guide you through some of the tightest corners you will ever see. The top of the pass bounces between the majestic cliffs of Glatten to the north and the monolithic mountain range to the south.
The Furka Pass
The Furka Pass in Switzerland is situated in one of the snowiest regions of the country, the Bergrats. It is 28 kilometers long and reaches a height of 2,429 meters. The pass was famously featured as the dramatic backdrop for the car chase in James Bond’s Goldfinger from 1964.
The Grimsel Pass
In the area of Innertkirchen, you’ll find this amazingly beautiful pass with an elevation of 2,164 meters and a length of 32 kilometers. The Grimsel Pass sets itself apart with its lack of blind bends. It is part of the popular triple pass route together with the Furka and Susten Passes.
The Susten Pass
The Susten Pass is the final pass we mention as part of the legendary triple pass route. With 45 kilometers of curved road ahead of you, this beautiful pass elevates to about 2,260 meters. Smooth corners and good surfaces might encourage speeding, but be careful on some corners due to vertical drops without much of a safety net.
The San Bernardino Pass
Next on my list, we find the San Bernardino Pass. This road connects the Hinterrhein with the Italian Valle Mesolcina. At 30 kilometers long and with an elevation of 2,066 meters, this smooth and natural beauty is a perfect cocktail of speed and curves.
The Oberalp Pass
The Oberalp Pass in Andermatt is a stunning pass that connects the Swiss cantons of Graubünden and Uri. With some great hairpin turns and fairly long stretches of road, its highest point is at 2,042 meters, and it has a total length of just eight kilometers. You’ll find some amazing bends and curves here, making it a must-add to your list.
